Hannah: West Pier - Portrait Session
Portraits at West Pier, Brighton
It was one of those days when everything feels just a little bit magical. I am sure that meeting Hannah was meant to be. When we were planning the session we thought it will rain. I'm never stopped by the elements, and always hope my clients will share the sense of adventure and a love for both: the moody skies and the golden sunsets. When I got off the train in Brighton, the sky was bright & clear, and as we walked up to the beach, we were blessed with those golden rays of departing sun and a soft pink sky.
We connected straight away and I was so inspired by the light that Hannah brings to this world. We spoke of soul midwifery that she has felt called to do & her deep connection to the sea. She was born in Brighton, and the West Pier is such a close and personal symbol of strength, persistence & grace. The pier suffered a partial collapse during a storm in 2002, and caught fire a year later. But it's still there, washed by the waves, graceful as ever.
During every session, I love to ask questions and get to know the people I photograph. If we can shoot in a space that means so much to them as the West Pier & the seaside means to Hannah, it's all the better. I want to capture people's stories, their heart & soul, their unique shine. Being in a place that meaningful to you, helps to tell a part of your story.
