Fire & Wild: Wild Garlic & Campfire Lunch
Fire & Wild
Wild Garlic Forage & Campfire Lunch
Earlier this spring, I headed out into the woods with Fire & Wild. It was the start of Wild Garlic season. So we began the day by picking some Wild Garlic, and ventured into the woodland to set up camp for the afternoon. It felt like going back to the roots. As we gathered kindling and set up fire, I kept thinking of all those campfire dinners I've shared with my friends and family as a kid. Every spring and summer were marked by a camping trip of some sorts. And as much time outdoors and exploring into the nearest woodlands, lakes, rivers as we could spare. We never had much money, but we sure knew how to adventure as far or as close as we could and enjoy time in nature. As I grew older and life happened, those camping trips ceased to be a part of my normal life. But my soul longs for it every year. And I certainly want to make sure that it's a big part of my life as I go further.
Fire & Wild cooked up a storm! Pigeon breast, with wild morel mushrooms (foraged previous year in Scotland), wild garlic, toast and eggs for lunch. And for dinner - a whole rainbow trout, fennel, new potatoes and a little bit of wild garlic (you can't have too much! I LOVE wild garlic).
But have a look yourself!
