Mumma Earth. I love to feel her under my feet. To watch with awe how vast, intricate and beautiful she is. To taste the fruit she offers. To submerge into its waters. To bow to its wild creatures. To know that she is stronger, larger, older than any part of me. But to feel how we are intrinsically connected. Like mother and daughter. She is wisdom. She is power. She is the greatest teacher.
Tomorrow is Earth Day. But every day is Earth Day. Get outside, get your feet on the ground. Connect to our universal roots. Thank Mumma Earth for all that she provides. Thank her for this ride we call life.🌿🌊🦅
What are you most grateful to the Earth for?
Have a lovely weekend! Spend time with people you love, have some time in the sunshine, enjoy life & don’t worry about anything else! That’s what weekends are for!
I needed today. I really needed today. We took a bus 10min out of town, to a local wild swimming spot. We walked across fields to the nearest village, had a drink at the pub, in the sunshine, said hello to some really friendly goats. We came across goose eggs on sale by the side of the road. The farmer even went to check the fridge for some duck eggs and we took the lot! Then we wandered back to the river and foraged wild garlic. I love how easy it is to spot - you can smell it in the air! With a bag full of found & foraged goods, we settled for a picnic. I dreamed about swimming there soon. We spent some time reading and watching the water. And then we took the bus back as the sun was setting and had coloured everything pink. I needed today. I needed to be reminded of all the reasons I moved here. We’ve had tough year, so much of it was spent working & worrying. It helps us savour the moments like today more. Those carefree, slow days spent just enjoying what life has to offer. It fills me with so much more motivation & joy. And I feel blessed and so happy. Today, I felt rich.
Oh how much I love it! The sun kissing my skin, the soft summer wind. It smells of summer. It feels like summer. And everything feels so alive again! I feel so alive! I’ve got a burning desire for adventure, for camp fire evenings and canoeing down a river. For wild swimming and resting under big trees.
✨🌿🌊🙌🏻
What are you looking forward to the most this summer?
I am constantly inspired by and learning from nature. Putting yourself out there is hard. It’s scary. It’s vulnerable. It’s so easy to start measuring myself and feel small. But I want to contribute, to help, to create. And I know I have value to offer. And when I don’t feel brave or strong enough to do something, I look at nature - the way it just is. In all it’s simplicity & all it’s magnificence. I don’t judge nature, I admire it in all its forms. So I try to learn from that, and instead of letting my energy be wasted on the measuring, I focus it on doing, on growing, on being, on offering value however small it might be. It’s a process, but I can imagine a tree, growing from sapling to a large oak - it’s a process. Or waves crashing to cliffs. They may seem impenetrable, but after years and years, they erode against the persistence of the sea. And so I try to focus on those little steps of growth, little bursts of energy. And just keep going. I don’t know if any of this makes sense. But what I’m trying to say I guess is that if you feel small & powerless, imagine yourself to be a tree, and focus on that potential of growth, new strentgh, new branches, and just basking in the sun or soaking in the rain. It’s all a journey anyway. Or something like that.
